Highlights

Overview

The Kedarnath-Badrinath pilgrimage is a sacred journey in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, encompassing two significant Hindu pilgrimage sites nestled in the Garhwal Himalayas. Kedarnath, dedicated to Lord Shiva, and Badrinath, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, are part of the Char Dham Yatra, a revered pilgrimage circuit in Hinduism.

The journey typically begins with a visit to Kedarnath, where pilgrims trek through challenging terrain to reach the ancient Kedarnath temple. Perched at an elevation of over 3,500 meters, the temple is surrounded by majestic snow-capped peaks and is believed to be one of the holiest shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Following the visit to Kedarnath, pilgrims proceed to Badrinath, a sacred town located along the banks of the Alaknanda River. The Badrinath temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is an important part of the Char Dham Yatra and holds immense religious significance. Pilgrims believe that a visit to these two shrines cleanses them of sins and contributes to spiritual salvation.

The journey between Kedarnath and Badrinath involves traversing breathtaking landscapes, including dense forests, river valleys, and picturesque mountain views. Pilgrims undertaking this yatra seek not only religious blessings but also a profound connection with nature and a sense of spiritual rejuvenation amidst the Himalayan splendor.
